The GMA napoli OdV pursues goals of solidarity among peoples in cooperation with local realities in developing countries, particularly in Ethiopia. The main aim is the improvement of living conditions of communities in need, especially women and children.
Currently our activities are aimed at:
Long-distance adoptions of minors in need, from 4 to 16 years, that we insert in schools, giving preference to education to ensure a better future. We follow the street children that we insert into foster homes. The SaD fee requested from the sponsors is 300€ annually (€ 0.80 per day … € 25 per month). The fee is managed by our local partner – Catholic Mission of Shashamane – and it is distributed: 30% education (school fees and school materials) – 30% medical assistance and clothing (food, clothes and sanitary equipment are given as a present for local festivals) – 30% emergency fund (surgical operations, rent / repair of houses, transport costs and help to some deserving students enrolled at the university who, due to age limitations, left the project) – 10% administrative fees (wages and salaries to local operators; stationery costs; utilities and transport costs related to the SaD project, etc …)
We work in schools with teacher training courses to improve teaching quality in classes on average of 80 students with scarce teaching aids; we provide material resources; we send volunteers for educational courses to students; we build schools.
Water, health and reforestation
Restoration of wells; maintenance and installation of water connections; campaigns in schools and speakers for the appropriate use of clean water and traditional toilet facilities. Sending doctors and medical supplies to the clinic and mission hospital. Hygiene and health education campaigns in schools.
Increase in girls’ school attendance through distance support; training and micro-credit activities to achieve the self-development of women heads of households. Literacy courses, home economics, hygiene and health.
Development education and global education in Italian and foreign schools of all levels to promote multiculturalism, integration of foreigners and in general interculture in an economically globalized world, but not culturally.
Questa nota vuole essere anche una testimonianza che c’è anche una Napoli attiva e sensibile ai problemi dei PVS (paesi in via di sviluppo).
