The GMA Naples OdV pursues goals of solidarity among people in cooperation with local realities in developing countries, particularly in Ethiopia. The specific objective is the improvement of the living conditions of communities in need, particularly women and children. Currently our activities are aimed at:
Sponsoring a child
Distance support for minors at risk, from 4 to 16 years old, which we place in schools, favours education to ensure a better future. We follow the children from the streets that we welcome into family homes. The SaD fee requested from the sponsors is € 300 per year (€ 0.80 per day … € 25 per month). The fee is managed by our local partner – Catholic Mission of Shashamane – and indicatively it is divided as follows: 30% education (school fees and school supplies), 30% medical assistance and clothing (for local festivals food, clothing and hygienic/sanitary materials are given as gifts), 30% emergency fund (surgical operations, rent / repair of houses, transport costs and help to some deserving students that are enrolled in the university who, due to age limits, have left the project) and 10% administrative expenses (salaries and pay to local operators; stationery costs; utilities and transport costs related to the SaD project, etc …)
We intervene in schools with training courses for teachers, to improve the quality of teaching in classes with, on average, 80 students with scarce teaching aids. We provide material resources, we send volunteers to do educational courses with students, and we build schools.
Water, sanity and reforestation
The restoration of wells, the maintenance and installation of water connections, campaigns in schools and conferences about the appropriate use of clean water and sanitary facilities though also traditional. Sending doctors and medical supplies to outpatient clinics and hospitals. Hygiene and health education campaigns in schools.
To increase attendance in girls’ school through distance support; training and micro-credit activities to achieve the self-development of women as the heads of households. Literacy, home economics, hygiene and health courses.
Education on development
Education on development and globalization in Italian and foreign schools of every level to promote multiculturalism, integration of foreigners and in general the mixing of cultures in a world that is economically, but not culturally globalized.
Questa nota vuole essere anche una testimonianza che c’è anche una Napoli attiva e sensibile ai problemi dei PVS (paesi in via di sviluppo).
